If you have noticed that your 925 Silver jewellery changes colour over time (straw yellow, red brown, purple, blue, and black), you are experiencing silver tarnishing (it is not rust, don't worry!). It’s a natural phenomenon that all silver tarnishes when in contact with air and it’s actually really easy to remove!
What causes 925 Silver to tarnish?
It has everything to do with chemistry!
Natural Gases in the Air
Specifically is sulphur in the air, it darkens as it reacts with the chemical to form a layer of tarnish on the surface.
Chemicals and Sweat
Such as makeup, perfumes or cleaning chemicals. Even the pH level of skin will cause tarnish.
How to clean tarnished 925 Silver?
The sooner you clean tarnish, the easier. If your silver jewellery starts to get that yellowish tint, it is time to clean it. Don't let it get so tarnished that it turns black. The more tarnished silver is, the harder it will be to clean.

How to avoid 925 Silver from tarnishing?
Wear Daily
The more you wear it, the more it will shine because friction will slow down tanishing. So don’t be afraid to wear your silver!
Airtight Ziplock Bag or Box
If you do not wear them frequently, we recommend storing it in our ziplock bag to prevent it contact with air.
Clean Before Storing
Wipe off all the sweat, moisture and dust before storing as the moisture will cause tarnishing.
